Jordi Mestre: I don't know if Messi will continue with Barcelona
Former Barcelona vice-president Jordi Mestre is not sure whether Lionel Messi will continue his contract with the Catalan club amid rumors of his departure at the end of the season.
A public feud between Messi and Barcelona sports director Eric Abidal has prompted rumors that the Argentine could leave Camp Nou in the summer.
A clause in his contract with the Spanish champion allows Messi to leave as a free player whenever he wants.
Recent events have fueled rumors that Messi could move to Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Manchester United or Inter.
Messi has a contract with Barca until 2021 and has not yet started talks on its extension.
“I have no idea if he will continue the contract,” Mestre told MARCA Radio.
“His father talks about renovation. I always respect the contacts with the players. I only intervened when it was time to talk, ”he added.
