De Bruyne: I can not do what David Silva did
Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne says he does not feel any pressure to replace David Silva’s creativity. Insisting he cannot recreate the Spanish superstar’s brilliance.
Silva ended his 10-year stay at the Etihad this summer and joined Real Sociedad as a midfielder with 436 appearances for Manchester City.
City have not bought any replacements for Silva. As youngster Phil Foden has been identified as the ideal player who could take on the role of Spaniard as attacking midfielder.
But De Bruyne, who equaled Thierry Henry’s record for most assists in a single edition last season, is another player tasked with taking on a more attacking role on the pitch in the absence of Silva.
The Belgian star, however, does not think so. Because he is not convinced that there is a real way to replace the former City star.
“David Silva was an extraordinary player for us. I can not recreate what David does.” said De Bruyne.
“I have to help my team in the way I always try to do. Everyone should play with their qualities.” he added.
“Of course it will be difficult because Silva was a master of tight spaces. But I think we have people who can do the job. We will certainly miss him inside and outside the field.” he underlined.
