Lukaku: I am happy, but I want more
Inter center-forward Romelu Lukaku says he is happy on a personal level with his achievements this season. But has admitted that the team wants to achieve more and is not happy with the second position.
After two draws in a row, Antonio Conte’s team traveled to the Luigi Ferraris stadium with the aim of getting three points against Genoa.
Inter had won one of their last seven away games against Genoa in Serie A. However this time the Conte’s men dominated the game and did not allow themselves to lose points.
The Nerazzurri got exactly the victory they were looking for to rise to second place in the table. Thanks to goals scored by Romelu Lukaku, in the 34th and 93rd minute, and by Alexis Sanchez, in the 83rd minute.
These two goals Lukaku has scored 23 goalss during this debut season and he has expressed his satisfaction with this personal achievement.
“On a personal level, I am happy, but I know as a team we can do more than that.” said Lukaku.
“We have a good team, it is not easy for us to be in second place because we want to win and we want to go as high as possible. I want to help Inter get there.”
“We have lost a lot of points along the way, but we are young and we want to improve. Now we want to get good results in these last rounds and then in the Europa League.”
Inter has already secured qualification for the next season of the Champions League, but hopes to maintain the position of runner-up, after three seasons that has finished the league in fourth place in the table.
