New deal with Nike, Liverpool brakes Manchester United's record
Liverpool team has confirmed that they have agreed a multi-year sponsorship deal with renowned firm Nike, which will take effect next season at a record 80 million paund a year. Their partnership with the American sports and footwear brand will begin on June 1, 2020. Nike will supply uniforms to the first team, women’s team, academy teams, coaching staff and the Liverpool FC Foundation.
Liverpool’s Nike deal gives The Reds the chance to break the Premier League record held by Manchester United from the deal with Adidas (75 million paund a year). Real Madrid (98 million pounds) and Barcelona (100 million pounds) are the only European football teams to win more than Liverpool through uniform sponsorship.
Current New Balance sponsors, who have been supplying The Reds uniforms since 2015, did their best to maintain their partnership with Liverpool, but the club has decided collaborate with Nike from now on.
