Pirlo: The draw with Rome is a step backwards for us
Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo admits that his team’s 2: 2 draw with Roma is a step back in the whites’ appearances. And explains what did not go well at Olimpico.
Pirlo changed only one player from the formation of the last match. Which he won 3: 0 against Sampdoria, Alvaro Morata instead of Gianluca Frabotta.
Juventus twice found themselves at a disadvantage after goals from Jordan Veretout. But came back on both occasions thanks to Ronaldo, despite playing with one player less for most of the second half. Following the exclusion of Adrien Rabiot with a red card.
The Portuguese striker scored from the penalty spot and then with his head to secure a point for his team.
“In terms of appearances, we took a step back, but this is an ongoing work and we have not had the opportunity to play friendly preparations to test our tactics.” Pirlo said after the match.
“In the end we won a point, as we were twice at a disadvantage and then we played with one player less.” he added.
