Sterling is expected to recover in time for the game against Real Madrid
Manchester City striker Raheem Sterling is expected to return to Pep Guardiola’s team in time for the Champions League match against Real Madrid on 26 February.
Manchester City are behind Liverpool in the Premier League and it is almost impossible to win the title this season. The worst news for Citizens came on February 1 against Tottenham and it was not the result (2-0 loss) but the injury of Raheem Sterling.
The English star left the field in the 83rd minute of the match due to an injury to his right leg muscles. The Spanish daily AS reports however that the injury is not as serious as initially suspected.
The club are still concerned that he may not be 100 percent fit for the 1/8 of the Champions League final against Real Madrid on 26 February. However, AS believes he will be available for Guardiola for the match.
He is expected to be absent for two to three weeks and Manchester City only worry that he may not be as good as he was before, as he has been the best goal-scorer this season, with 26 goals so far. Only Aguero comes close with 21 goals.
Manchester City have suffered quite a lot from injuries this season. Ederson, Sane, Laporte and Aguero have suffered injuries during the season, affecting City’s not-so-good form in the Premier League.
