Thiago sets a record on his first debut in the Premier League
Thiago Alcantara has set a record in the Premier League on his debut match for Liverpool. As he made more passes than any Chelsea player. Despite playing only 45 minutes.
Thiago joined Liverpool from Bayern Munich on Friday for around 22 million euros. But was included in Jurgen Klopp’s squad for Sunday’s game at Stamford Bridge.
He started the match on the bench. But got into the game from the start of the second half after captain Jordan Henderson was forced to leave the field due to a thigh problem.
The Spanish midfielder immediately revealed why everyone at Anfield was excited about his arrival.
It did not take long for Thiago to make an impact on the game at the heart of the Liverpool midfield.
He made 75 accurate passes. More than any Chelsea player, including more than those who played a full 90 minutes.
This is a record, as no player has recorded more passes than that within 45 minutes, since Opta started recording pass statistics at the beginning of the 2003/04 season.
