Wolverhampton captain critical of VAR decisions
Wolverhampton Wanderers captain, Conor Coady has called the VAR system ridiculous and unclear after losing his team (1-0) to Liverpool on Sunday.
The Premier League leader won with a goal by Sadio Mane that was initially canceled on suspicion that Adam Lallana had touched the ball manually, but after the VAR review, the goal was conceded.
However, footage showed that Virgil van Dijk had previously been suspected of touching the ball by hand, which was not considered part of the action build.
A few minutes later, Pedro Neto equalized, but the goal was canceled out due to an outfield position earlier. This decision has prompted the reaction of the Wolves and their captain.
“I still can’t believe it. It’s ridiculous. For me (VAR) is failing. “Somebody says that the right decisions are made, but we are the players on the field and I don’t think that’s right.”
“We thought Van Dijk touched the ball by hand, but the referee tells me that Van Dijk was too far away. He donated the pass! VAR is affecting the match, you can hear the fans cheering for it. No one has asked us about it.”-Coady told the judges.
