How can Cristiano Ronaldo break multiple records at Euro 2020?
When he leaves the field on Tuesday night, Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo will have a new record. Becoming the first player to participate in five European Championships in a row.
The Portuguese striker, Cristiano Ronaldo has a chance to break two records before the end of the race.
The reigning champions will start their Euro 2020 campaign against Hungary at 18:00 in Budapest.
The 36-year-old star only needs one goal to break the record of France’s Michel Platini as the best goal scorer in the history of the European Championship.
Both have scored nine goals. With Ronaldo scoring in the last four races. While the Frenchman scored them all in the 1984 tournament with Les Bleus.
“It is a good record. But more important than this would be to win the European Championship again.” Ronaldo told reporters on Monday.
Six more goals would see Ronaldo become the all-time leading scorer for a national team.
The record is currently held by Iranian striker Ali Daei who scored 109 during his international career, while the Juventus striker has 104 goals in 175 international matches.
At Euro 2016, Hungary took the lead in the first half and took the lead again, twice, in an exciting 3-3 draw with Portugal. Ronaldo in that meeting scored the last two goals for the Portuguese.
Portugal’s second match is against Germany on Saturday in Munich and then they meet the World Champion, France on June 23 in Budapest.
