De Gea secures Manchester United a dramatic victory over West Ham United
David de Gea has secured Manchester United a dramatic 2-1 victory over West Ham. After receiving Mark Nobel’s penalty in the last breath at the Olympic Stadium in London.
Nobel came off the bench in extra time. Specifically to hit from the penalty spot that should have given West Ham a point in the referee’s final whistle. But De Gea read his shot and jumped to the left wing for them remove the ball.
This is the third consecutive victory and the fourth in the first five games for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team. Which means that United is now the joint leader with Liverpool with 13 points each.
In a fun match in London, Mohamed Said Benrahma put the home side in the lead. After his shot was deflected into United’s goal net by Raphael Varane.
But Cristiano Ronaldo, with his third goal in the first two games since returning to the Premier League, silenced the stadium by tying the score at 1: 1 just five minutes later.
While David Moyes’s squad was more demanding and expected to regain the lead. It was Lingard who punished the squad which helped him get back on track last season.
The English striker scored a magnificent goal in the 89th minute to turn the visitors’ lead and chose not to celebrate in honor of the former club.
Coach Moyes decided to put Noble in the game specifically to shoot the penalty. The veteran midfielder had not touched the ball with his foot and his shot from the white spot was blocked by De Gea.
This is the third game in a row without a win for West Ham, two draws and one loss.
