Frank Lampard breaks the silence over dismissal from Chelsea
Frank Lampard has said that he is disappointed that he was denied the opportunity to take Chelsea forward.
The Blues legend, Frank Lampard was fired as Chelsea manager on Monday. 18 months after he was named following the club’s decision to part ways with Maurizio Sarri.
Despite the status of the club legend and the top scorer in the history of the club. Lampard was not immune to the name-fire style of owner Roman Abramovich.
Chelsea were the leaders of the Premier League at the beginning of the season. But a performance of poor results caused them to fall to ninth position. And this resulted in the dismissal of Lampard.
Abramovich issued a rare press release following Lampard’s dismissal. Saying he remains the club’s key icon despite the dismissal.
“It was a difficult decision for the club because I have an excellent personal relationship with Frank and I have great respect for him.” said Abramovich.
Meanwhile, Lampard chose Instagram on Monday night to break the silence.
“It was a great privilege and an honor to lead Chelsea. A club that has been an important part of my life for a very long time.” he wrote.
“First of all, I want to thank the fans for their tremendous support during these 18 months. I hope they know what that means to me. When I got the job here I understood the challenges of the future at a difficult time for the club.”
He added: “I am disappointed that I was not given time this season to take the club forward and take it to the next level.”
