Koeman wants to stay in Barcelona for many years
Ronald Koeman hopes to remain Barcelona coach for many years to come.
Towards the end of last season it seemed as if Koeman was no longer safe working in Barcelona. As president Joan Laporta hinted that he would replace him. But in the end he was entrusted with the team for the new season as well.
The Dutch coach’s contract with Barca expires next summer. However, according to Goal, the club will offer him a new contract if the team meets the goals this season.
The coach admitted that he would be very happy if he was offered a new deal. And is optimistic about the club’s future with talents like Ansu Fati and Pedri.
“Yes, of course, I am open to renewal. I am very excited to continue to be Barca coach for many years. Despite the difficult times at the club today.” Koeman told Sport.
The Catalans faced difficult times this summer, due to financial troubles.
They were forced to fire club icon Lionel Messi because they were unable to pay him. Despite the Argentine accepting a 50% pay cut. Other stars such as Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets accepted big pay cuts to help the club.
