Lovren: Liverpool need me a lot more than I need them
Former Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren says Jurgen Klopp has told him he is missing out on the team. But insists he has no regrets about leaving Anfield.
The Croatian representative left Liverpool in August. After a full six years and 185 appearances in all competitions. As well as winning the Premier League and Champions League.
Lovren, 31 years-old, has become a key player at center-back for Zenit this season, at a time when Liverpool are suffering from major problems with a lack of center-back due to injury.
Virgil van Dijk is still recovering from the knee ligament injury he suffered in October, while Joe Gomez is missing due to a serious knee injury.
The lack of center-backs has pushed coach Klopp to put midfield duo Fabinho and Jordan Henderson at the center of the defense against Manchester United recently.
Lovren says he is missing Liverpool, but feels happy now playing for the Russian club.
“No, I do not regret it. My decision in the summer was final, to leave Liverpool and not turn my head back.” said.
“Last season I was furious when I did not play, but now everything is different. I think Liverpool miss me more than I miss Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp knows this because we talk. “He wrote to me recently: ‘We miss him,'” he added.
