Mourinho wants to fight for 4 trophies with his Tottenham this season
Jose Mourinho insists his Tottenham will not give up any competition. After he managed to advance to the fifth round of the FA Cup thanks to the victory against Wycombe on Monday.
Wycombe, the last team in the Championship or second division of English football, shocked Tottenham when Fred Onyedinma scored for his side’s lead in the middle of the first half.
But Gareth Bale – who was a starter as rare times – equalized just before the end of the first half. Scoring with a header after a cross by Lucas Moura.
Tottenham increased the pressure in the second half. But Wycombe withstood frequent attacks in an attempt to take the game into extra time.
However, he brought in key players like Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Tanguy Ndombele. The difference in quality on the field changed even more. And Harry Wings scored for Tottenham’s lead four minutes before the end.
Ndombele made sure there was no drama in the final moments when he scored twice in the final seconds of the match.
Tottenham have reached the Carabao Cup final already and are still in contention in the Europa League. With Mourinho eager for trophies in each of the competitions his team has competed in this season. Including the Premier League.
“Even when we had to play four games a week and people thought we would give up the Europa League or the Carabao Cup, we did not. We fought. Today we brought the whole team here. Only Hugo Lloris stayed home. We will fight.” Mourinho told the BBC.
“We want to continue. In February we have to play in three races because it is the FA Cup and then the Europa League resumes. Of course it will be difficult, but we have to try.” he added.
