Pochettino: "It is not a match for revenge, we also have absences"
Mauricio Pochettino, the coach of Paris Saint Germain, appeared at the press conference before the match with Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Last year’s Champions League final is repeated in the quarterfinals. But Pochettino says it will be a whole other challenge.
He also spoke about the many absences of PSG.
“Knockout matches are always balanced and offer the same opportunities for both teams. Bayern are the reigning champions of Europe and the World. We know they are very strong. But we are confident in our means and qualities.” he said.
“We have our weapons to strike and we will try to win this challenge. Bayern are very organized and can hardly lose their balance, we will have to find a way to hit and hurt them.”
“Revenge? Last year’s final is not a match we will refer to. The staff and I were not present then and these matches are not comparable to a final. I do not think it is a revenge match.”
“It is a challenge for us to try to beat them, which are probably the best team in the world. I am sorry for their absences, but we with Verratti, Icardi or Paredes are no less. We live in a world complicated by this virus, which adds to the classic injuries, and we have to adapt to this situation.”
The challenge between Bayern and PSG will take place at the “Allianz Arena” on Wednesday from 21:00.
