Solskjaer: I hope I am leaving United in better shape than it was
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken publicly for the first time since being sacked by Manchester United. Saying he feels honored to have been given the opportunity. And hopes he is leaving the club in better shape.
Solskjaer was sacked on Sunday morning after the embarrassing 4-1 defeat against Watford on Saturday.
United have confirmed that his assistant coach Michael Carrick will be in charge of the team temporarily. Until the club appoints a permanent coach.
Speaking in an interview with the club after leaving, the coach said: “I had an opportunity that is not for everyone. We feel honored and privileged to have been entrusted with the task of moving the club forward.”
“I really hope I am leaving the club in better shape than it was when I came”
He added: “The fans have been amazing. From day one in Cardiff until now. We will see each other again.”
United lost five games this season in the league under the Norwegian coach. And as a result fell to eighth place with 17 points. 12 away from leader Chelsea.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly United’s main target for the post.
